About Us

How we began

Arnold Mack was a pioneer in growing and marketing the first seedless watermelon varieties.
His first farming venture was growing watermelons in south Alabama in 1967, after a short stint in the family’s funeral parlor business. As Arnold told it “We couldn’t get ’em in the ground fast enough to grow the business, so we decided on a different approach – growing fresh produce and getting ’em out of the ground. From there – it was up to us to grow the business.” Arnold had an opportunity to purchase some farm land that was for sale in Lake Wales, FL. After the purchase he began to grow potatoes and watermelons for the early spring through early summer annually.

What we do now

What started as a small family seasonal operation has now grown into a large year around operation.

Mack Farms has been producing high quality fresh potatoes and watermelons for over 30 years in the central Florida region. The produce we grow, source, or package reaches many of your local grocery stores, restaurants, and local produce markets. Our specialty crops are Florida new crop potatoes and early sweet seedless watermelons. Our Florida potato shipping season runs from February through June; however, we pack and distribute potatoes year around from all major growing areas.

Mack Farms watermelon division operates as McMelon. McMelon grows and ships watermelons during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months in FL, GA, SC, NC, DE, & MD.
